shots of all my bookshelves

Here are pics of about 3/4 of my books. Some of them are in piles all over the house & on top of my card catalog cabinet.... and some of them are on a couple of bookcases that weren't there when I originally took these pictures earlier this year :)

First, the basement:

I *love* my globe bookends! This is a bookcase full of sets (the stuff at the bottom is a set of Walter Kaufmann books, painstakingly assembled by me from divers internet sellers).
sets of things
Another "set" bookcase, for the Great Books series (I love reading my Victorian translations of the Greeks! Even if I am still stuck in the midst of Euripides.)

Top half is reference + our collection of odd bibles, bottom half is textbooks.

Bottom half is classics, top half is supposed to be DVDs... but the classics are encroaching on them.

Upstairs in the library:

This one gets used to stash stuff - everything from packing tape to sewing thread - but also paperbacks, audios, & graphic novels I don't worry about Preserving As Art.
papbcase
Two cases of non-fiction (alphabetical order w/anthologies at the beginning, of course) and assorted tchotchkes that I either like or received as gifts from people I'm very fond of (or occasionally both). I was too lazy to roll the LoveSac away from them, so just know each bookcase has another unseen shelf or two.

2 more nonfiction bookcases, a fiction bookcase (note stacks on top - LtR photos and old journals, sheet music, and 2 stacks of YBFH), and the really tall bookcase is top-half art (inc. some graphic novels) and bottom-half kids' books. The 9 jillion stacks of books on the floor & desk (there are more hiding under the desk) were removed from the downstairs landing, for reasons to be demonstrated shortly.

What's currently on the landing. Yes, those are ALL library books. Occupational hazard.

I am extremely jealous of a) your globe bookends b) the sheer amount of books and c) the amount of library books. Thanks for sharing!

This is sexy.

I'm starting my Masters in Library Science in the autumn. Can't wait! I just moved 6,000 miles so I had to sell most of my books, cry. We're slowly working on making our collection impressive again.

I love the globe bookends..I've been thinking my bookcase should have a small globe and some nifty bookends too. I wish I had the space for more bookcases too but I think I may manage one more tall one and then a smaller one to be used as my TBR case

I suddenly feel justified in my library habit although I assume from what you said you work in one, I'm just mistaken for a library employee sometimes.
